Warehouse lighting is simple, right? You have a big space with high ceilings and you need a big light.

Sometimes this is right, however this may not be the whole picture.  An understanding of the total use of the space has to be identified before any selection of lights can take place. Selection of the right light in the right place is particularly important where you have heavy goods, motorised pallet lifts and people all using the same space.

Many warehouse situations are simply that, places where goods are held in racking ready for use or dispatch. Conversely many warehouse applications contain racking for goods but also encompass administration, picking/packing areas and office environments within the same building envelope. Lights for areas with racking may not be suitable for use in these other areas due to their very nature. A highbay light used in an office environment within a warehouse may provide too much light or cast shadows over the work area and create a difficult working environment for the user.
